Knock sensor microphone8/28/2023 ![]() ![]() this sucker is small and without all the stuff to make soldering small stuff bearable it kinda stinks. Its an piezo-electrical microphone in a very durable package, specially designed to give a strong signal at between 5KHz and 15KHz (5,000 - 15,000 cycles/sec). i left mine in tact and plan on trying it out that way but ultimately i bet it may work better without it.i will probably end up removing it from mine and gluing the mic to the clip but for right now my mic is very securely crimped in place and held in place with insulator.i would think with it being glued solidly right to the handle that it would really pick up what is being transmitted through that handle, while leaving the surround would make it work more like a listening devise that is in your engine compartment, close to the noise.i will see.Īnd andy- no - you can use mine though.nothing is a 10 minute job. Its a small thing that either screws into a hole in the block, or is held on a stud. but any cable with an aligator clip looks pretty cool.acutally there is this thin foam rubber surround around the mic and in front of it. Slump i was thinking about doing that too. This is done through the aid of a knock sensor A knock sensor has a piezoelectric crystal that operates basically like a microphone.
